October Meeting

Members voted to have a Club picnic this year in lieu of the October meeting.  The picnic will be held Sunday, October 18, at the home of Dave (KK5KX) and Joy Jenkins.  Members and families are invited to arrive around 3:30PM, with barbecue dinner to follow at about 5:30.  We need volunteers for everything but meat and dessert – if you’d like to contribute, please call Dave or his XYL at 409/836-3544.  For planning purposes, please call with an approximate number of folks who will be attending.

Driving instructions to Jenkins’ QTH:  from the intersection of Loop 497 and FM2754 in Kenney, West on 2754 (towards Industry) for 1.25 miles.  The house is on right, with a black (used to be) fence by the road.  The house is a brick house, and we’ll have windsocks out by the road as further identification.

W5 DX Bash

John, NJ1V, reported that the W5 DX Bash will be held the same weekend as the Belton Hamfest at the ranch of W5KFT on Lake Buchanan northwest of Austin, Texas.   This is a three-day event, starting Friday, October 2, and all hams and their families are invited.

On the ‘net, visit http://www.dxer.org/w5bash/ to get more information regarding this event.  I visited that page, and it looks like it’s a great opportunity to get out into the country and to meet other Texas hams.
